Laocoon Sculpture Reproduction
The Laocoon sculpture reproductions featured here are replicas of the famous Greek Hellenistic original, 1st c. B.C. Each Laocoon sculpture reproduction shown here is a faithful copy of the original. The original Laocoon sculpture group from which these reproductions were copied was found in Rome in 1506 when a young man fell into a crevasse landing in the subterranean remains of Nero's Golden House, the Domus Aurea. Over the centuries, many other sculpture reproductions of Laocoon and his sons have been made. Virgil's Aeneid is the source for the mythological tale of Laocoon from which these sculpture reproductions come. Laocoon was Poseidon's priest who warned the Trojans of the danger of the Greek Trojan horse.
